Please read these terms carefully. By booking or boarding any vessel operated by Windy City Boat Rentals, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
1. About Us
This website and all its yacht charter services are owned and operated by Windy City Boat Rentals, based in Chicago, Illinois. We provide private luxury yacht rentals for leisure, personal, and corporate use exclusively in Chicago-area waterways.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 21 years old to book or operate any vessel. A valid government-issued photo ID is required at check-in. Additional licensing or certification may be required for bareboat (uncrewed) charters and will be communicated in advance.
3. Charter Types
All rentals include either:
- Crewed Charter: A licensed captain and crew provided by Windy City Boat Rentals, or
- Bareboat Charter: You may captain the vessel yourself if you meet all legal requirements and provide valid proof of boating competency, subject to approval.
4. Booking, Deposits & Payments
An advanced payment is required at the time of booking. A security deposit may also apply. Cancellations or no-shows may result in forfeiture of deposits or additional fees. Specific deposit amounts and cancellation terms are provided at booking.
A surcharge of $250–$1,000 may apply to bookings during special events, holidays, or peak-season dates. The company reserves the right to waive this surcharge at its sole discretion.
5. Conduct Onboard
You and your guests must behave responsibly. Reasonable alcohol consumption is allowed, but illegal substances, reckless behavior, or actions that endanger people or property are strictly prohibited. Smoking is allowed only in designated areas, if permitted by the captain.
6. Weather Policy
In the event of severe weather conditions that make sailing unsafe, Windy City Boat Rentals reserves the right to reschedule your charter to a mutually agreed-upon date. If rescheduling is not possible, a refund may be offered at our discretion.
7. Damage & Liability
Renters are responsible for any damage to the vessel or equipment beyond normal wear and tear. Any loss or damage caused by negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms may result in additional charges. Insurance coverage may apply, but it does not release the renter from liability.
8. Safety Compliance
All charters comply with applicable local, state, and federal maritime safety laws. Guests must follow all the captain’s instructions at all times. Failure to comply may result in the termination of the charter without refund.
9. Third-Party Providers
Some services or equipment may be provided by third-party captains or contractors. Windy City Boat Rentals is not liable for acts or omissions of third parties outside its direct control.
10. Privacy & Communication

11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Windy City Boat Rentals shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our website or services.
12. Hold Harmless
You agree to hold Windy City Boat Rentals, its owners, employees, and affiliates harmless from any claims, damages, or legal actions resulting from your breach of these Terms or misuse of our vessels.
13. Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. Any dispute shall be resolved through binding arbitration in Cook County, Illinois, under the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
14. Policy Changes
We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. It is your responsibility to review them periodically. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of any changes.
